Blog for Cash!

Earn spare income by writing about the topics YOU find interesting.

People like Michael Arrington , 36, who operates the TechCrunch blog is pulling in $60,000 a month. The Boing Boing blog is pulling in $1 Million dollars a year in advertising revenue. And then there is the amazing Fark.com, which is said to be pulling in $600,000 to $800,000 a month in ad sales.

Wouldn’t you enjoy even 1% of that income stream.

Earning extra income is as easy as figuring out your passions and blogging about your hobbying experience. Before you start applying yourself to the steps of our FREE checklist take a few minutes to write down several subjects that inspire you. It could be gardening, building model aircraft, or even talking about your favorite TV shows. The more specific you can be can help tremendously in the amount of income you can produce, as you will see in the following steps.

Step #1 - Figuring out what you are going to blog about.

This isn't easy and it is by no means a get rich quick scheme. Pouring yourself into your subject matter requires a lot of time and effort on your part. That's why we encourage you to choose a subject that interests you. Otherwise you blog will be abandoned long before it starts producing any real spare income.

Using the ideas we encouraged you to write down at the top of this page try searching in Google or Yahoo for your subject.

Google

Are there 13 million pages returned for your search term? Then you may want to narrow the field a little. For instance a subject like Gardening returns almost 60 million pages on Google and 75 million on Yahoo. Thats a lot of competition to go up against. Remember your blog will have to compete with every single one of those pages for a listing in the top ten pages of search results. To do any good you'll really need to be in the first three pages of results.

So lets narrow the field a little. Using a tool like the SEO Book Keyword Tool, you can see how many people are searching for your specific search terms on different search engines for each month. You can see that by focusing on organic gardening instead of the broader subject of gardening gives you only 1,760,000 competing pages on Google. That is a lot less people to be fighting for the top search results.

What's more is that we could narrow it further, and with that bring more relevant content as to what people are looking for and bring quality to our advertisers increasing our income down the road. You could focus on any specific aspect of organic gardening such as tips on how to deal with pests or organic vegetable gardening instead of focusing on herbs and fruits.

The narrower your focus the less competition and the more likely you will appear at the top of the search results for your specific keywords.

Step #2 - Sign up for a free blogging service such as Blogger.

Blogger.com

Free is a great way to start. do a couple of posts and see if you think it is something you not only like but could sustain. Blogging requires making daily blog posts for the greatest return. Sure there are bloggers out there making decent money with only a few posts a week but the more posts you make the more pages you build and the greater your potential to see income from your blog.

(Authors suggestion: Make sure you set your blog to use the title of your post as the title of the page, and use your keywords in your titles.)

If you decide that you enjoy your chosen subject and blogging for cash is something you may like doing purchasing a domain name is something you should seriously consider. A domain that does not include the blogspot.whatever.com that comes from using Blogger looks far more professional. One thing you should consider before purchasing your domain name is to include your keywords to increase your Search Engine Visibility.

Using the previous example of organic gardening, buying the domain name OrganicGardening.com would be far more beneficial than purchasing something like SusansPlotODirt.com. Go back to the keyword suggestion tool and use it to help locate the proper domain name for your blog.

Step #3 - Writing Original, Interesting and Useful Content

This is where being passionate about your chosen subject matter really pays off.

Your posts can range from long carefully researched pieces on your subject matter to a quick blurb about something relevant you found on the web using the Blog This! tool from Blogger in your toolbar. Whats more is that you can use sites like ArticleYou.com or ArticleCity.com to help build relevant and interesting content during your start up or slow periods. Just remember to follow their rules and add a link back to them on your blog for using their services.

Three steps going and you still haven't started making any money but done a heck of a lot of work.

Thats because you really do need to make sure this is something that you can do on a regular basis, keeping in mind that it may be a while before you start to see any income. Blogging is not something you can "sort of" do and expect any income.
